Why you should be part of ATDW
ATDW can get your product listing and details to a larger audience network through websites and portals, so more consumers will see your product, and potentially book it. It’s a great way for tourism operators with limited promotion budgets to publicise their services.
Through the Get Connected program, Destination NSW gives you the opportunity to showcase your tourism product online free of charge through the ATDW. You only need to enter your information once and your details will be on the ATDW which will then feed through to visitnsw.com and sydney.com and any other relevant distributor website.
What to do if an ATDW distributor contacts you
Occasionally ATDW distributors contact operators with offers of premium advertising space on their websites, reservation services or other online marketing opportunities.
ATDW distributors must follow the ATDW Distributor Communications Guidelines. These guidelines aim to protect the interests of tourism operators, especially from other irrelevant or poor quality unsolicited offers.
Operators are listed free of charge on a distributor’s website or digital channel as a condition of the ATDW License Agreement.
If you do not wish to receive further offers or updates from a distributor, you can ‘unsubscribe’ from its email service.
Any offers you receive to upgrade or change your listing should be considered on its merits, just like any offer to advertise in the media.

Creating your Get Connected entry
When describing your product, text should be kept short and simple with the most important content written at the beginning of the description.
Keep these points in mind when writing all product descriptions:
- The product name, key points and highlights should be positioned at the beginning of the description
- Progress into further detail throughout the description by providing additional information about activities and services provided at the product/destination
- Conclude the description with transport information and other useful hints
- Editorial content should always refer to the product/destination in the third person and the reader/consumer in the second person. This ensures that an objective point of view is always conveyed to readers. The third person is “he, she, they, their, his, hers, him, her”. The second person is “you and your.”
Your listing may be updated as often as you want. Under the Get Connected Terms and Conditions, you must review and refresh at least once every 12 months. Even if your description, facilities and prices remain unchanged, it is good practice to review all contact details are URL’s and phone numbers/emails can often change.
The listing will be automatically removed from the database and website. Regular updates ensure the information on our websites is current and useful for travellers. If you do not have the facilities to update your listing, contact the staff at your local Visitor Information Centre.

Helpful hints on Get Connected
When you have updated your listing, click on ‘finish or release live’. Failure to do so will stop updates showing on the website. The ‘save’ button only saves a copy of your changed information and the new information will not go live until the ‘finish or release live’ button is clicked.
If you have changed the description, location or product name, your listing will be sent to the quality assurance (QA) area. All other updated information is live on the website after you click ‘finish or release live’. QA generally takes 24 - 72 hours and if your changes are still not showing at this time, please email the ATDW for further investigation.
