Destination NSW Chief Executive Officer Sandra Chipchase said the initiative organised by the State’s tourism and major events agency Destination NSW, in partnership with Hunter Valley Wine & Tourism Association, will highlight the region’s diverse wine and food culture.

“We are delighted to be providing eight wine writers from across Australia the chance to further explore the beautiful Hunter Valley and an opportunity to share their first-hand experiences with potential visitors,” Ms Chipchase said.

“This exciting initiative will also leverage our ‘It’s ON! in NSW – Hunter Valley’ campaign, aimed at increasing overnight visitation to Regional NSW while promoting the exciting events and festivals on offer in the region.

“We look forward to welcoming many visitors to the Hunter Valley as result of this special visit and once again, to be placing Regional NSW in the spotlight and showcasing Australian audiences some of the best experiences in this incredible State.”

NSW Minister for Trade, Tourism and Major Events Stuart Ayres said supporting regional tourism is one of our leading priorities and this initiative is another great example of the NSW Government’s commitment to increasing overnight visitation to Regional NSW.

“The annual Hunter Valley Wine and Food Festival, now spanning over a two month period, is a fantastic drawcard and has proven to be popular on the NSW Events Calendar,” Mr Ayres said.

Vice President of Hunter Valley Wine and Tourism Association Andrew Margan said, “We are delighted to be working with Destination NSW on this program to bring the country’s most pre-eminent wine writers to the Hunter Valley, showcasing the region’s unique wine, food, produce and events.”

The joint visit to the Hunter Valley will take place from Thursday 26 May to Saturday 28 May. For further information on the Hunter Valley go to visitnsw.com/destinations/hunter/hunter-valley
