The Destination Visitor Survey (DVS) program provides the opportunity for regional destinations to undertake research specific to their area. The projects provide high quality, flexible, cost effective and timely research to assist destination managers. Findings include information about visitors’ expectations, their activities in the destination and if they plan to return.
The specific aims of the program are to:
- Provide robust evidence based research which will enable informed decisions and support the establishment and/or review of Destination Management Plans.
- Provide industry satisfaction benchmarks against which destinations can assess their performance.
- Facilitate strong linkages to the commercial sector by dissemination of industry ready Visitor Profile and Satisfaction (VPS) survey reports (a practical resource for tourism operators).
Tourism Research Australia manages the DVS program with input from the State Tourism Organisations, local tourism organisations and/or local councils.
The research conducted within the DVS program is split into two streams: Visitor Profile and Satisfaction program (VPS) and Strategic Regional Research program (SRR).
