NSW's most exciting music event is set to start this week, bringing incredible artists into towns and cities across the state.
Taking place from 21 March - 6 April 2025, Great Southern Nights will bring some of Australia’s finest acts to all corners of the state, supercharging arts and cultural events in NSW.
The beloved live music celebration will take place in multiple venues across NSW, delivering over 330 live gigs to areas including Sydney, Western Sydney, Newcastle, Wollongong and the Central Coast region, along with Bathurst, Broken Hill, Byron Bay, the Hunter Valley, Orange, Tamworth and Tilba.
To kick the series off in style, The Cat Empire popped up in Sydney’s Martin Place today for a free show. The band performed stripped back versions of their classic hits and celebrated the release of their 10th studio album Bird in Paradise, treating fans with some brand new tracks.
Fans had a chance to meet the band, then keep the energy going at Jam Vinyl Bar during an intimate album listening party.
Tickets to Great Southern Nights are a hot commodity, with some shows selling out within weeks of initial announce, including Bec Sandridge, The Beths, Boo Seeka, Lime Cordiale, Marcia Hines, Missy Higgins and The Cat Empire.
As Great Southern Nights grows closer, tickets to aleksiah, Alison Wonderland, Birds of Tokyo, Boy & Bear, Sarah Blasko, You Am I have also sold out.
From Australia’s most recognised names like Hoodoo Gurus and Peking Duk to the next biggest artists like King Stingray, Teenage Dads and The Rions, the star-studded line up has something for music lovers across all generations and genres.
Great Southern Nights recently announced the addition of two outdoor program highlights to its already massive calendar. Following on from the success of similar offerings last year, Newcastle and the vibrant Hollywood Quarter in inner Sydney will offer unique, walkable, free gig trail experiences for music and food loving patrons.
