Minister for Trade, Tourism and Major Events Stuart Ayres said it will provide a fantastic opportunity for overseas agents and product managers to learn more about the exciting new experiences on offer across the State.
“In the year ended December 2016, NSW welcomed more than 348,000 visitors from the United Kingdom who spent $739 million. Visitors from Germany spent $207 million while visitors from France spent $178 million in NSW,” Mr Ayres said.
“Through our tourism and major events agency Destination NSW, the NSW Government is committed to growing tourism across key international markets and the United Kingdom and Europe trade event will provide a wonderful platform for the NSW tourism industry to engage with international tourism buyers.”
The 2016 Program will include information and networking sessions with the aim of increasing overnight visitor expenditure from each market.
Destination NSW Chief Executive Officer Sandra Chipchase said the trade mission will help to further position NSW as Australia’s number one tourism and events destination to a global audience.
“The United Kingdom and Europe trade mission will feature a comprehensive event program of activities and informative sessions including the opportunity to meet with suppliers in one-on-one appointment schedules,” Ms Chipchase said.
“We look forward to welcoming many more visitors to Sydney and Regional NSW as a result of a successful mission and I encourage tourism buyers in the United Kingdom and Europe to register soon they don’t miss meeting these wonderful NSW based operators.”
The United Kingdom and Europe trade mission will be held from 5 – 14 April 2016 across London, Manchester, Glasgow, Dusseldorf, Berlin and Frankfurt and Paris.
Attendees will also have the chance to win a return economy flight to Sydney courtesy of airline partners Qantas and Qatar Airways, to experience some of NSW’s best attractions.
