Destination NSW Chief Executive Officer, Sandra Chipchase welcomed the initiative that will run until tomorrow evening, and said it highlights other work by the Caravan and Camping Industry Association NSW (CCIA) and the NSW Government to promote camping and caravanning in the State.

“This initiative by the CCIA NSW gives people a taste of a caravan and camping holiday right in the heart of the city. They can inspect a caravan, motorhome or tent, speak to experts, and collect a free copy of the CCIA’s latest Holiday Touring & Products Guide,” Ms Chipchase said.

The NSW Government, through Destination NSW, has partnered with CCIA over the past three years to deliver innovative marketing campaigns to continue to support the caravan and camping industry – the current campaign provides online content to help travellers plan the perfect trip on www.visitnsw.com.

Minister for Tourism and Major Events, George Souris, said: “The NSW Government recognises the importance of caravanning and camping to our visitor economy. The State received nearly 2.4 million domestic caravan and camping visitors in the year ending December 2013, bringing an estimated $1.9 billion to NSW.”

“It’s great that CCIA NSW and Destination NSW are continuing to support this important industry, to further boost visitor numbers and help us achieve our goal of doubling overnight visitor expenditure in the State by 2020.

“The CCIA’s Caravan, Camping, RV & Holiday Supershow being held at Rosehill Racecourse from 26 April to 4 May will give people another chance to see the latest caravan and camping products and services, and the wealth of destinations across NSW. I encourage anyone thinking of their next holiday to make a trip to the Supershow,” he said.

CCIA NSW Chief Executive Officer, Lyndel Gray, said: “The last year saw a 15 per cent increase in the number of domestic visitors to commercial caravan and camping parks in NSW, and a seven per cent growth in domestic visitor nights, which is an incredibly strong performance.”

“We are excited to be able to bring a taste of the outdoors to Sydney’s CBD for two days – we hope the pop-up caravan park initiative will show people that a caravan or camping holiday can be great for anyone, because there is a style and location to suit every taste,” she said.

Tickets to the Caravan, Camping, RV & Holiday Supershow can be purchased at the pop-up caravan park or online at caravan-camping.com.au/supershow.
