Deputy Premier and Minister for Tourism and Major Events Andrew Stoner shared his congratulations and highlighted the impressive gains the State has made in the Singapore market.
“Increased air services and targeted destination marketing campaigns have seen an increase in visitation from Singapore of 9.1 percent for year end June 2014,” Mr Stoner said.
“NSW received more than 110,000 visitors from Singapore who contributed $203 million to the State’s economy,” he said.
Destination NSW Chief Executive Officer Sandra Chipchase welcomed the accolade and said it was recognition of the campaign’s success in engaging Singaporeans and encouraging them to fly Scoot and visit Sydney.
“Stretch or Splurge sees popular Singaporean television presenters Dominic Lau and Paula Malai Ali, travelling around Sydney and surrounding regions on a quest to maximise their adventures in NSW,” Ms Chipchase said.
“During four 12 minute episodes broadcast on flyscoot.com/sydney, the pair must decide when to stretch their dollar further and take the ‘every penny counts’ option and when to splurge and indulge in the finer things for the ultimate Sydney adventure.
“The episodes, filmed in the Blue Mountains, Hunter Valley, Port Stephens, South Coast and Sydney, reached a total of 2,714,857 eyeballs in the three months from May to July, 2014.
“The video content has been so successful that it’s now been combined into two 30 minute episodes which will be broadcast on Channel 5 Singapore on 12 September and 26 September, as part of second campaign burst,” she said.
