Tripadvisor has announced the winners of its annual 2024 Travelers' Choice Awards Best of the Best Restaurants, with Pokolbin's EXP. Restaurant named best in Australia.

The 2024 Travelers' Choice Best of the Best Restaurant Awards are determined based on the quality and quantity of traveller reviews and ratings posted on Tripadvisor over the 12-month period between 1 June 2023 and 31 May 2024, as well as an additional editorial process.

Tripadvisor President Kristen Dalton said: "There's something special about the way food brings people together.

“Some of my fondest travel memories are gathering the people I care about the most around a table and sharing a meal. From discovering hidden local favourites to unique dining experiences, our Tripadvisor community is here to guide travellers to meals worth remembering.”

Five NSW restaurants were named in the top 10 in the Fine Dining – Australia category for 2024.

Tripadvisor said: "When you’re looking for the crème-de-la-crème, these are the places worth getting on the waiting list for. Think: white tablecloths, best-in-class chefs, and unforgettable bites."

EXP. Restaurant in Pokolbin, Hunter Valley, was the category winner.

Tripadvisor said: “EXP. Restaurant stands out for its intimate setting and eye-catching presentations. The superb food made with local produce and the excellent wines make for a fantastic dining experience.

“Try the exquisite meals paired with their top-notch wines for a treat. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and the service is efficient. The calm ambiance and exceptional attention to detail make it a memorable experience.”

The Gates Restaurant in Pokolbin took out third place, followed by L’isle De France in Terrigal in fourth place, The Stunned Mullet in Port Macquarie in eighth position and Margan Wines and Restaurant in Broke at number 10.

Among the best casual dining restaurants in Australia for 2024 were Thai Potong, Sydney in second place, Dogwood, BX in Bathurst in fourth place, Flavour of India in Sydney in ninth place and Primi Italian in Sydney taking 10th place.
